The Seven Bays · Constantine Bay
Constantine Bay — wide open Atlantic surf
A broad sweep of golden sand with stronger, cleaner waves for confident surfers, dunes to wander and rockpools at the Booby's Bay end — a short drive from the park.
One of the Seven Bays
A surfer’s beach with room to breathe
Constantine Bay is one of North Cornwall’s classic surf beaches — a wide, west-facing expanse of clean golden sand that catches the full force of the Atlantic. The waves here are stronger and cleaner than at gentler neighbouring bays, which makes it a firm favourite with intermediate and advanced surfers.
Behind the beach, rolling dunes give way to the fairways of Trevose Golf Club, and at the northern end the sand joins Booby’s Bay at low tide, when the two beaches merge into one long arc and rockpools open up to explore. It’s a beautiful spot for a long walk whatever the swell is doing.

Surf and swimming at Constantine
Exposed to the open Atlantic, Constantine works on most swells and is best suited to surfers with a little experience under their belt.
Stronger, cleaner surf
The bay picks up consistent, well-shaped waves that suit intermediate and advanced surfers. If you’re just starting out, the gentler beach breaks at Harlyn or Polzeath are a kinder first lesson.
Mind the rip currents
The same Atlantic energy that makes the surf so good also brings strong rip currents. Always swim within the lifeguarded zones in season, follow the flags, and keep a close eye on children in the water.
Rockpools at low tide
Head toward the Booby’s Bay end as the tide drops and you’ll find rockpools full of crabs, anemones and small fish — easy entertainment for younger explorers between waves.

Good to know
Suited to confident surfers
Constantine rewards intermediate and advanced surfers. First-timers are better off booking a lesson at a surf-school beach nearby — see the rest of the Seven Bays for gentler options.
Swim between the flags
Because of the rip currents, swimming is safest inside the lifeguarded area. Check the tide times and lifeguard hours before you set off.
Dunes, golf and walks
Trevose Golf Club backs the dunes behind the beach, and the South West Coast Path runs along the headland — an easy clifftop walk links Constantine with Booby’s Bay and Treyarnon.
Roughly ten minutes from the park
Constantine Bay is about a ten-minute drive from Atlantic Bays. It is generally a dog-friendly beach, though restrictions can apply on the busier Cornish sands over the main season — check the local signage on the day. Dogs are also welcome on the park’s touring and camping pitches.
